拉丁语词尾的m表示鼻化？

在一本叫做Essential Latin的书看到这个：

m as in English at the beginning or in the middle of words; a final 'm' should be pronounced with the lips open, as a nasalisation of the preceding vowel.

以我贫乏的英语，貌似这段的意思是：

m如同英语中词首或词中的发音；词尾的m应当发音时双唇打开，如同一个鼻音伴随着元音。

这个貌似是在描述鼻化音。
记得之前不知何处得闻拉丁语单词etiam应当发成etiã
