北風共日頭其古事
Ô sioh ciáh giàng-duô-nè̤ng giàng lì, sing sê̤ṳng sioh iông iā gâu gì duâi-sang. Báe̤k-hung gâe̤ng Nik-tàu ché̤ṳ dioh cô āi ciâ ciā nè̤ng lì dó̤i-tàu piâng lâ diē (or nó̤h-sioh) ciáh gá buōng-sê̤ṳ.
有蜀*隻行墿儂行來, 身頌*蜀件雅厚其大裳. 北風共日頭覷著就倚藉茲儂來對頭並兩下底(乇蜀)隻較本事.
I lâng-gì gōng hō̤, diē ciáh â̤ gâe̤ng ciā nè̤ng sing sê̤ṳng ‧gì duâi-sang táung lo̤h ‧gì, cô sáung i buōng-sê̤ṳ.
伊兩其講好, 底隻解共茲儂身頌其大裳褪*落其, 就算伊本事.
Iù-sê, Báe̤k-hung cô kiū sāi-lik páh hung, i hung páh muōng táu, ciā giàng-duô-nè̤ng duâi-sang dang-dō̤ bau muōng dâing; gáu màng-muōi, Báek-hung láe̤k lâi ng ché lāu.
由是, 北風就起手使力拍風, 伊風拍罔透, 茲行墿儂大裳單倒包罔橂, 遘暝尾, 北風了*唻*呣試了.
Dāng ciā Nik-tàu cô chók ‧lì hiék, sioh hiék, giàng-duô-nè̤ng chṳ̄ káik cô táung lâi sing sê̤ṳng ‧gì duâi-sang.
仱茲日頭就出來熁, 蜀熁, 行墿儂此刻就褪唻身頌其大裳.
Báek-hung mò̤-huák bók-dék sìng-nêng, lâng-gì diē sié Nik-tàu buōng-sê̤ṳ.
北風無*法不得承認, 兩其裡勢日頭本事. The North Wind and the Sun were disputing which was the stronger, when a traveler came along wrapped in a warm cloak.
They agreed that the one who first succeeded in making the traveler take his cloak off should be considered stronger than the other.
Then the North Wind blew as hard as he could, but the more he blew the more closely did the traveler fold his cloak around him;
and at last the North Wind gave up the attempt. Then the Sun shined out warmly, and immediately the traveler took off his cloak.
And so the North Wind was obliged to confess that the Sun was the stronger of the two. |
