As a complement to the famous Dictionary of the Foochow Dialect, this English-Foochow Dictionary is also an indispensable reference book which is especially helpful to English-speaking learners. And like Foochow Bible, it contains no Chinese characters but only Foochow Romanized. From a careful examination of words and phrases used in this handbook, we can draw the conclusion that Fuzhou dialect still remains much the same as it was one century ago.

作为Dictionary of the Foochow Dialect的辅助书，这本English-Foochow Dictionary也是一本不可或缺的参考书，尤其有助于那些以说英语的学习者。和福州语圣经一样，它没有包含任何汉字，只有平话字。细查此手册中的词汇短语，我们可以得知福州话依然在大体上保留着一个世纪前的面貌。

Interestingly, in this book I also found a little loose-leaf paper, on which there are names of vegetables written in such a beautiful handwriting:

gái-làng-chái (芥兰)
pŏ̤-lìng-chái (菠菜)
kṳ̀ng-chái (芹菜)

Thank you for sharing. That loose-leaf is interesting, but the content of p. 299 covered by that hand-writing leaf seems to be regrettably irrecoverable.

Haha, have you checked the p. 299 yourself? I've removed the loose-leaf by some magic!
