I've ordered An English-Chinese dictionary of the Foochow dialect, 3rd Edition

The dictionary was edited by T.B. Adam and published by Methodist pub. house in 1923. Compared to the 1st Edition (1891) , the 3rd Edition has 565 pages, almost 200 pages more. The seller sent me some photos of it. It looked still good.

Hopefully it will arrive in one or two weeks.

第三版！

今天书刚到，是32开本（我们现有的那本电子版的好像是16开），一共565页。我把第三版的preface和前两页内容照下来给大家看看。和第一版相比，这一版也就是增加了一些词汇而已。如果大家觉得有必要，我再考虑要不要把全书照下来。

我发电批询问了书商这本书的来历，这是伊的回批：

Fengyuan, Actually I purchased a box of books at an estate sale, I actually only wanted one, but they were sold in boxes.  It was the estate of a Southern Illinois University, Carbondale professor and after some checking, I discovered that it was his father who was a missionary in Foochow, and were he lived as a child.  The professor worked for a publisher for many years before teaching and had some very old first editions which I have in my collection.  I'm not sure how many of his books were in the estate but I certainly wish I could have bought more for my collection.  I appreciate your feedback, I try to honestly describe and grade all of my books.  I'll keep your e-mail address incase I find more books, in this area, that might interest you from Foochow.  Thanks again, Esther.
